It is the last week of finishing up my learning project. I have learned so much from this experience and I can’t wait to continue to grow my abilities. I got to experience learning how to play piano by only using online material and it was great! I have been able to develop my skills learning the piano. I have also been able to grow my use of online material and finding useful resources. It’s exciting to see how much I have grown in the past few months! Week 1: The Beginning Week 1 began with my decision of what I wanted to learn and how to blog it. I have never used the internet to teach myself a new skill, so I knew it would be challenging. I used this week’s post to explore my plan in learning piano.
Week 2: Challenges Week 2 began with playing around on the piano and starting the song.
Week 3: Busy, Busy Week 3 began with a busy schedule. I had jam packed a lot of homework into this week and didn’t play as much as I would have liked.
Week 4: Motivated! Week 4 began with basics in learning piano.
Week 5: Flip - What? Week 5 began with exploring a new tool/app. I chose to explore Flipgrid. A video discussion app, where feedback can be given on a particular area/topic set up by an instructor.
Week 6: Gold Grand Piano Week 6 began with exploring another new app that I had found online! This app was called Piano 3D. The reviews looked promising and it was a nice change of pace.
Week 7: Procrastination Week 7 began with the absolute dreaded procrastination. I was able to practice most of my skills but didn’t have as much time as I would have liked too. I didn’t use any online tools this week, but I used all the knowledge I had learned prior to practice different skills that I had learned from the apps and videos. Week 8: On the Web Week 8 began with a new website! I absolutely love this website and I would recommend using it frequently. This website was a staple and I continued to return to it most days to practice skills.
Week 9: The Problem List Week 9 began with another visit to my favorite website resource on learning piano. This week was a focus on recognizing problems when playing.
Week 10: Commitment Week 10 began with work. I had lots of work, not just physically, but also mentally. I have realized for the amount of time I have left I may not be able to complete the final song.
Week 11: Time Flies! Week 11 began with a crunch of practicing the song. There is only a week left to complete this project and I was ready to start testing my new skills.
Week 12: Wrap up! Week 12! This is it! This is the end. I can’t even begin to say how much I have grown in this experience and what new skills and resources I have access to. Below is a copy of my final project. Final Thoughts: This class has helped me tremendously. I have learned how to play the piano, but I have also learned how to interact with others, take criticism, work hard and push myself beyond what I can do. I have gathered so many new resources, not from just my own work but from seeing others work as well. I can’t wait to use these resources in the classroom, and continue to teach others the beneficials of using technology in the classroom.
Thank you EDTC 300, your support and criticism has helped me grow. I can’t wait to see how our futures go and how we use our new knowledge in the classroom. Best of luck! Paige.
